Photography, being outside, and wildlife have always been sources of inspiration for me. Focusing on wildlife and nature photography allows me to continue to combine those three passions and then share them with others through the resultant print.
I was born and raised on a farm in North Central Ohio. My love of flying took me to the Air Force Academy in Colorado and then on to a 22 year Air Force career. I was blessed to be able to travel to 55 countries on six continents while in the Air Force, but the assignment that really sparked my photography was being stationed in Alaska from 2001 to 2004. The epic wildlife there and outdoor opportunities coincided with digital photography replacing film, and after rapid improvements in my photography skills, I started Rock36 Photography in 2003. Since then my work has been displayed in various settings including the Photographer's Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City and in the North American Nature Photography Association's "Expressions" publication.
In 2017, I retired from Active Duty Air Force, moved to Monument, Colorado, and started working for United Airlines. I am married to the beautiful Nikki and have an energetic daughter/aspiring photographer Kate.
I am a member of the Alaska Society of Outdoor and Nature Photographers as well as the North American Nature Photography Association. My prints are currently featured at Bella Art and Frame in Monument, Colorado.
